E-Z-GO Recalls RXV Golf Cars Due to Fall HazardDate: 7/3/2008
Reason: The hip restraints on the cars can detach at the base, posing a fall and injury risk to consumers.

The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Name of Product: RXV Golf Cars Units: About 16,500 Manufacturer: E-Z-GO, of Augusta, Ga. (a Textron Company) Hazard: The hip restraints on the cars can detach at the base, posing a fall and injury risk to consumers. Incidents/Injuries: E-Z-GO has received 20 reports of hip restraints breaking, including nine reports of broken bones and abrasions from falls. Description: This recall involves electric and gasoline-powered Fleet RXV, Freedom RXV and RXV Shuttle 2+2 golf cars. The model names and the E-Z-GO logo are printed on the sides and front panel of all three vehicles. Serial numbers ranging from 9300001 to 9300188 and 5000000 to 5021328 are printed on a plate attached to the steering column, and the front and rear frames. Sold by: E-Z-GO and independent golf car dealers nationwide from January 2008 to June 2008 for between $7,000 and $9,000. Manufactured in: United States Remedy: Consumers should contact the nearest E-Z-GO dealer to arrange for a free repair. E-Z-GO and E-Z-GO dealers are contacting known owners. Date: 9/22/2008 Reason: These regulators can be missing the diaphragm cover which can cause the diaphragm to become displaced during a dive, allowing water to enter the scuba regulator. This poses a drowning hazard to divers. Distribution: Nationwide. Date: 10/27/2008 Reason: The gas grills can be assembled improperly exposing the gas burner hoses to excessive heat, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 10/27/2008 Reason: The two-piece fuel tanks on the riding mowers can separate at the seam, causing fuel to leak. This can pose fire and burn hazards to consumers. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 9/8/2008 Reason: The tires on the portable garden hose reel can explode while being inflated, posing an injury hazard to consumers. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 9/26/2008 Reason: The jack lifts can have threads stripping or the nuts breaking, resulting in the shaft slipping and the mower falling from its stand-up position.
