Outdoor Canopies Sold Exclusively at BJ's Wholesale Club Recalled by Wanda Technology Due to Fire HazardDate: 7/10/2008

WASHINGTON , D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Outdoor Canopies Units: About 8,600 Importer: Wanda Technology Inc, of Santa Ana, Calif. Hazard: The canopies fail to comply with a voluntary flammability standard could pose a fire hazard to consumers. Incidents/Injuries: None reported. Description: This recall involves the outdoor canopies with "Code Number: 1020-8-WT2007". The canopies are white, measure 10' X 20', and have a metal frame with four corner posts that support a fabric top which shields the user from the sun. The code number can be found on a label sewn into the canopy fabric. Sold by: BJ's Wholesale Club stores nationwide from January 2008 through May 2008 for about $200. Manufactured in: China Remedy: Consumers should stop using the canopy and contact Wanda Technology for instructions on how to return it for a full refund. Consumers with the recalled outdoor canopies are being contacted by the firm. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 11/6/2008 Reason: The chain brake can fail to stop the chain on its first application, posing a risk of laceration to consumers. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 11/21/2008 Reason: A FUEL TANK VENT LINE SEVERED BY FLAWED FLOOR PANEL DESIGN, ALLOWING GAS FUMES (AND POSSIBLY GASOLINE ITSELF) TO ACCUMULATE IN THE BILGE. Distribution: Nationwide. Date: 12/11/2008 Reason: The blower’s impeller, which is a rotating component on the blower, can break, resulting in pieces of plastic flying out of the blower. This poses a risk of serious injury to the user or a bystander. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 10/27/2008 Reason: The gas grills can be assembled improperly exposing the gas burner hoses to excessive heat, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.
