Derringer Foodservices issues "Allergy Alert on Albacore Tuna Salad Hoagie"Date: 9/22/2008
Reason: This product is being recalled due to the omission of egg in the ingredient statement following the ingredient “Reduced Calorie Mayonnaise.”

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released the following information:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Cincinnati, OH -- September 17, 2008 -- This product is being recalled due to the omission of egg in the ingredient statement following the ingredient "Reduced Calorie Mayonnaise." The recall decision was based on a potential allergen was included in the product and excluded from the label ingredient statement. This label omission was discovered in a standard ingredient statement audit. The recalled item was distributed regionally in retail vending locations. The product comes in a 7 ounce, black plastic package labeled as "ALBACORE TUNA SALAD HOAGIE on the top and with an expiration date of 09/17/08. No illnesses have been reported in connection with this omission. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the egg-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of eggs in the reduced calorie mayonnaise. Subsequent investigation indicates the exclusion was caused by a temporary product substitution. This item has been suspended from the working menu pending label ingredient review, post recall. Consumers with questions may contact the Derringer Consumer Response Department at 1-800-537-0156. Type of Recall:Class I - This is a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 11/12/2008 Reason: Amy's Kitchen Inc. of Santa Rosa, California is voluntarily recalling Tofu Scramble in a Pocket Sandwich Lot 10 H148, because of the presence of milk in a product that is labeled non-dairy. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 12/3/2008 Reason: The chicken products may contain an undeclared allergen, wheat, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced today. Wheat is a known allergen, which is not declared on the label. Distribution: Several States. Date: 11/25/2008 Reason: This product is being recalled because it may possibly contain an undeclared milk protein. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 10/21/2008 Reason: The product may contain undeclared milk protein. Distribution: Kroger stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. |
