Deere & Company Recalls Gator XUV Utility Vehicles Due to Fire HazardDate: 9/17/2008
Reason: The fuel tank can leak from a gap in the seam at the base of the filler neck, posing a fire hazard.

The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed. Name of Product: John Deere Gator XUV 620i Utility Vehicles Units: About 2,500 Manufacturer: Deere & Company, of Moline, Ill. Hazard: The fuel tank can leak from a gap in the seam at the base of the filler neck, posing a fire hazard. Incidents/Injuries: Deere & Company has received seven reports of fuel tank leaks. No fires or injuries have been reported. Description: The recalled utility vehicle is Model 620i. The model number is painted on the side of the vehicle. The recall includes the following serial numbers. The serial number plate is on the vehicle's frame in front of the passenger side rear fender.
Sold by: John Deere dealers nationwide from April 2008 through August 2008 for about $10,000. Manufactured in: United States Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled utility vehicles immediately and contact any John Deere dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair. Keep fuel tank below half full until the repair is made. Registered owners were sent direct mail notification of this recall. This poses a serious risk of injury to consumers. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 9/22/2008 Reason: These regulators can be missing the diaphragm cover which can cause the diaphragm to become displaced during a dive, allowing water to enter the scuba regulator. This poses a drowning hazard to divers. Distribution: Nationwide. Date: 9/11/2008 Reason: ONE OR MORE BOLTS MAY HAVE FALLEN INTO THE AIR BOX NEAR THE THROTTLE BODIES SUCH THAT ONE OF THESE BOLTS COULD LODGE IN THE THROTTLE BODY AREA AND INTERFERE WITH THROTTLE LINKAGE WHICH COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT WITH POTENTIAL OF PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH. Distribution: NATIONWIDE. Date: 10/3/2008 Reason: When used outdoors, the wood in the hammock stand can deteriorate over time and break, posing a risk of falls and lacerations to consumers. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 10/27/2008 Reason: The gas grills can be assembled improperly exposing the gas burner hoses to excessive heat, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 9/26/2008 Reason: Cracks can develop in the welded joints of the drive axle assembly of the snowmobile and can result in complete breakage. If this happens the track of the vehicle can unexpectedly lock, causing riders to be ejected off the vehicle or lose control and collide with bystanders, a fixed object or other vehicles.
