H&M Announces Recall of Girl's Water Shoes for Fall HazardDate: 6/14/2006

WASHINGTON , D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. Units: About 1,900 Manufacturer: H&M USA, of New York, N.Y. Hazard: Though these shoes are marketed for use around water for traction, they become extremely slippery when wet. This poses a risk of slipping and falling on smooth, hard surfaces such as tile. Incidents/Injuries: No reports of injuries. Description: These are pink and blue shoes with a multi-colored trim. The shoes have a pink rubber sole with silver glitter incased within it. A butterfly appliqué is attached to the top and flower emblems are on the back and sides. A label inside the shoes reads "364430" and "MADE IN CHINA." Sold at: H&M stores in the Northeast U.S. and California from March 2005 through May 2006 for about $8. Manufactured In: China Remedy: Consumers should stop using these shoes and immediately return them to any H&M store for a full refund. Date: 10/27/2008 Reason: A circuit board defect can cause AA batteries used in the guitar to leak if the batteries are installed incorrectly, posing a risk of chemical burns to consumers. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 9/17/2008 Reason: The fixed knot flexible openings in the soccer goal net can pose a head and neck entrapment or strangulation hazard to young children. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 9/8/2008 Reason: The hammock can flip over, posing a serious fall hazard and strangulation hazard to infants who get entrapped in the seat’s restraint straps while upside down. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 9/8/2008 Reason: The sweatshirts and jackets have drawstrings through the hood which pose a strangulation hazard to young children. Distribution: “Shirt off My Back” retail stores located in Colorado, Wyoming, and Michigan Date: 9/17/2008 Reason: The sip top on the water bottles can pull off, posing a choking hazard to young children.
