BRP U.S. Inc. Recalls Snowmobiles Due to Fire HazardDate: 6/19/2008
Reason: Friction between the fuel hose and the cylinder head cover can cause the hose to pierce. This can cause fuel to leak out, posing a fire hazard.

WASHINGTON , D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. Name of Product: Ski-Doo® Snowmobiles Units: About 430 Importer: BRP U.S. Inc., of Sturtevant, Wis. Hazard: Friction between the fuel hose and the cylinder head cover can cause the hose to pierce. This can cause fuel to leak out, posing a fire hazard. Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received two reports of fuel leakage and five additional reports of hose wear. No injuries or property damage have been reported. Description: The recall involves the following Ski-Doo® Models: Model Color The model names are located on the side panel. Note: The 2007 and 2008 Skandic SWT V-800 Snowmobiles were previously recalled due to explosion hazard. Sold at: Ski-Doo dealers nationwide from March 2006 through May 2008 for about $10,000. Manufactured in: Finland Remedy: Consumers should stop using these vehicles immediately and contact any Ski-Doo dealer to schedule a free repair. Consumers with recalled snowmobiles are being sent a direct notice from BRP. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 9/11/2008 Reason: THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT ONE OF THE BOLTS IN THE UPPER COWL MAY COME IN CONTACT WITH THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL FILTER LOCATED JUST BELOW IT. Distribution: NATIONWIDE Date: 9/8/2008 Reason: The metal clasp connecting the leash to a dog’s collar can bend or break while in use, causing the leash to recoil back unexpectedly. This poses a serious risk of injury to consumers. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 9/11/2008 Reason: ONE OR MORE BOLTS MAY HAVE FALLEN INTO THE AIR BOX NEAR THE THROTTLE BODIES SUCH THAT ONE OF THESE BOLTS COULD LODGE IN THE THROTTLE BODY AREA AND INTERFERE WITH THROTTLE LINKAGE WHICH COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT WITH POTENTIAL OF PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH. Date: 9/15/2008 Reason: Over-tightening of the DIN retainer by a technician during installation can result in the retainer breaking under pressure, a rapid escape of air from the scuba cylinder, and the regulator detaching from the scuba cylinder.
