The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Frameworx Table Height Chairs and Bar Stools

Units: About 22,400

Manufacturer: Brunswick Bowling & Billiards Corp., of Lake Forest, Ill.

Hazard: The down shaft on the seat plate assembly can fracture, which can cause an occupant of the seat to fall.

Incidents/Injuries: Brunswick has received reports of 20 incidents in which the seat plate assembly has failed. Three injuries resulting from falling from a seat have been reported.

Description: The recalled chairs and bar stools were sold under the model name Frameworx. The models affected are short table height chair model number 53-861025-000 and tall bar stool model number 57-860979-000. The model name and model numbers are not written on the chairs. The model number is only written on the original shipping carton, packing list or invoice. The chairs and bar stools have a plastic bucket-style seat bolted to a steel seat plate assembly that connects to the down tube of the seat.

Sold by: Distributors of Brunswick Bowling furniture selling to bowling center operators. This product was not sold to the general public. The chairs were sold from September 1995 through May 2004.

Remedy: Bowling centers owning these table height chairs and bar stools have been directly notified about this recall. Owners of the bar stools and table height chairs should stop using these products immediately and contact Brunswick to receive a free repair kit.
