Log Swings Recalled by Far East Brokers and Consultants Due to Fall HazardDate: 6/12/2008
Reason: A missing nail connecting the back of the log chair to the seat can cause the back to separate from the seat while in use, posing a fall hazard to consumers.

WASHINGTON , D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Log Swings Units: About 750 Importer/Distributor: Far East Brokers and Consultants Inc., of Jacksonville, Fla. Hazard: A missing nail connecting the back of the log chair to the seat can cause the back to separate from the seat while in use, posing a fall hazard to consumers. Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received six reports of the chair separating, including three reports of minor injuries. Description: The recall involves a wooden log swing that seats two people. The log swing hangs from a log frame. The swing measures 71 inches high by 62 inches wide. Sold at: Grand Union Family Markets, Ingle's Markets, VG's Food Center, Plumb's Valu-Rite Foods, and Central Shoprite stores nationwide from February 2008 through May 2008 for about $150. Manufactured in: China Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled log swing, disassemble it, and return it to the store where purchased for a full refund. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 11/21/2008 Reason: A FUEL TANK VENT LINE SEVERED BY FLAWED FLOOR PANEL DESIGN, ALLOWING GAS FUMES (AND POSSIBLY GASOLINE ITSELF) TO ACCUMULATE IN THE BILGE. Distribution: Nationwide. Date: 12/11/2008 Reason: The blower’s impeller, which is a rotating component on the blower, can break, resulting in pieces of plastic flying out of the blower. This poses a risk of serious injury to the user or a bystander. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 12/3/2008 Reason: The helmet’s chinstrap can unexpectedly disengage while in use. If this happens, the helmet can fall off, posing a head and neck injury risk to consumers. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 11/25/2008 Reason: The penalty, which has been provisionally accepted by the Commission, settles allegations that the company failed to immediately report incidents about defective outdoor candles. Distribution: Nationwide. Date: 10/27/2008 Reason: The two-piece fuel tanks on the riding mowers can separate at the seam, causing fuel to leak. This can pose fire and burn hazards to consumers.
