E-Z-GO Recalls RXV Golf Cars Due to Fall HazardDate: 7/3/2008
Reason: The hip restraints on the cars can detach at the base, posing a fall and injury risk to consumers.

The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Name of Product: RXV Golf Cars Units: About 16,500 Manufacturer: E-Z-GO, of Augusta, Ga. (a Textron Company) Hazard: The hip restraints on the cars can detach at the base, posing a fall and injury risk to consumers. Incidents/Injuries: E-Z-GO has received 20 reports of hip restraints breaking, including nine reports of broken bones and abrasions from falls. Description: This recall involves electric and gasoline-powered Fleet RXV, Freedom RXV and RXV Shuttle 2+2 golf cars. The model names and the E-Z-GO logo are printed on the sides and front panel of all three vehicles. Serial numbers ranging from 9300001 to 9300188 and 5000000 to 5021328 are printed on a plate attached to the steering column, and the front and rear frames. Sold by: E-Z-GO and independent golf car dealers nationwide from January 2008 to June 2008 for between $7,000 and $9,000. Manufactured in: United States Remedy: Consumers should contact the nearest E-Z-GO dealer to arrange for a free repair. E-Z-GO and E-Z-GO dealers are contacting known owners. Distribution: NATIONWIDE Date: 9/15/2008 Reason: Over-tightening of the DIN retainer by a technician during installation can result in the retainer breaking under pressure, a rapid escape of air from the scuba cylinder, and the regulator detaching from the scuba cylinder. Distribution: Nationwide. Date: 9/26/2008 Reason: Cracks can develop in the welded joints of the drive axle assembly of the snowmobile and can result in complete breakage. If this happens the track of the vehicle can unexpectedly lock, causing riders to be ejected off the vehicle or lose control and collide with bystanders, a fixed object or other vehicles. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 11/6/2008 Reason: The chain brake can fail to stop the chain on its first application, posing a risk of laceration to consumers. Distribution: Nationwide Date: 9/11/2008 Reason: ZF MARINE HAS DISCOVERED THE ZF THROTTLE AND SHIFTER CONTROL HAS THE POTENTIAL TO FAIL. Distribution: NATIONWIDE Date: 9/8/2008 Reason: The metal clasp connecting the leash to a dog’s collar can bend or break while in use, causing the leash to recoil back unexpectedly.
