Carfax - inaccurate report on my vehicle
I was involved in an accident on 1106. The airbags did not deploy and the damage was limited to right front end, mostly bumpers and fender. I tried to trade in my car in April 2008 and was told by Toyota of Temecula Valley that they could not take the car for trade in because 'air bag deployed' was noted on Carfax report. This was embarrassing to say the least. I came home and submitted an application for correction, sending Carfax both the accident report and repair report. They corrected the error. I thought this was now clear until I went again to Honda Temecula to trade in the car in August, (now the price has depreciated by over 3000 because it is a SUV and gas prices are high. Not to mention I would now be upside down. I was told by Honda they could not take the car back because there was framestructure damage, again embarrassing. I looked at the copy of report and the airbag was corrected but now they reported framestructure damage. The report of April 2008 showed framestructure no report. I contacted Carfax again and after several days was told that on line 93 of repair report it states repair set up and measure frame. They would not take off item but if I wanted to have it inspected again they would add the new information. This check is a routine check at Caliber Collision. The agent at Caliber told me that if there was a repair it would have been noted, all that was done was to verify that everything was properly in accordance with Toyota. I emailed the email received from Caliber that stated all the was done was a routine check and have not heard back from them as of yet. I am really frustrated with Carfax and am thinking about pursuing legal assistance. I feel that even if this is corrected they will come up with something else to mark down. How is this legal to come up with their own conclusions especially after the first report was indeed correct on the frame and structure damage. Any suggestions?
