I started with Dollar General July 18,2004 as a hourly employee (stocker) in my home town. I worked my way up through the management positions as key holders and finally on July 28, 2007 was promoted to store manager of the largest store in our district. The store was a mess. I worked 65-75 hours a week from that day until the day I was suspended. July 9, 2008. With the exception of being out sick almost two weeks prior from being run down. Had an attack and fell out at work on June 19,2008. D.M. said company would not pay for medical treatment, I had to file on my own insurance. Turned out I had Bronchial Pneumonia, had been trying to get rid of it for months could not take the time off. Never had any help. Dollar General will wear you down. The hours a store manager has to work and all the work you have to do cleaning, stocking forever, recovering every hour on the hour, and all the paperwork that is required of you. I opened and closed my store 3-4 times a week either I didn't have the hours or no help. Can someone please help? I can assure you I'm not the only one out here.

I too work well over my given hours,60-80 every week, and whenever anyone gets araise or min wage goes up they decrease your hours, which force you as the manager to work it,or be threatened that you will lose your job if you go over hours,I have had to even use my vacation days just to stay under hours as supposedly those don't count against you,(think again) i noticed my payroll was off by 165.00,exactly that of an employee vacation, asked the DM he says he sees the credit not me.
