US Dept. of Education and DCS,,,, Inc. (Diversified Collection Services) - DCS is Threatening me with wage garnishment.
In August I was notified that the GI Bill had over paid me 2,600 for my final semester of grad school. With interest I owed over 5k.
When my husband and I got our tax refund, the 2,600 was deducted from our taxes. I thought the issue was resolved and done.
Well, on Wednesday, 61108, I was notified by Ryan Stevens of DCS Inc, stating that they were seeking action against me to garnish my wages for the unpaid interest. This was going to happen on Friday, 61308. I have not been notified of this at all by mail or previous phone call. He said that I don't need to be in court, and not to even bother trying to fight it because they had made up their minds.
I work for a non-profit organization, and I have no left over money at this point in my life. I do feel this is unfair, and very shady.
I really hope someone can look into this for me.
Thank you.
Marisa Hubinger.
