My 1997 Cadillac Seville STS, which had Dex-Cool from the day it was put on the street, not only needed an unjustified amount of repairs on the heating and cooling system that cost thousands over the years, but actually had the heater core exploded and pour over 200 degree Dex-Cool on my foot while I was driving. The liquid was so hot not only did I get 3rd degree burns, but am lucky to be alive because this hot liquid poured over the break pedal and melted the floor mats. The entire care fogged up with a yellow, sticky, strong smelling, mist of radiator fluid that could be fatal. If life was 60 seconds behind I would be dead I had just exited the highway, I believe that this is a major saftey hazard and should not be allowed, if this is at all accepted then it should be the law that protective footware should be worn when driving. I have filed a complaint with GM and it has been about a month and I am still waiting to see if they will take responsibility. I believe that it was the Dex-Cool that caused this injury and am so upset to hear that they knew in 2003 that it ate away the engine. They could have prevented my injury and possible death, by doing the right thing. I don't think the settlement they have made due to the Dex-Cool is good enough, they don't seem to care about safety only money even over human life. I feel that they need to pay so that it hurts and makes them care about puting a safe product on the street, even if there only motivation is monitary. I hope to hear from them by the end of June 2008, but my lack of knowledge on what is a fair settlement amount makes me feel like they will not do what is fair, and in the end will have won.

The Claims Dept of General Motors had me send them my story and copies of around 100 repair reciepts for my car. They had a detective come take pictures of the heater core and melted floor matts. The claims department told me they would send these items to their engineering department and it would take 30 to 45 days to hear back from them then, the lawyers for General Motors would look at all the evidence and then they would get back to me. I find it funny that it took a total of 24 hours to get all the pictures and reciepts from me, but they need almost two months to look at it? I did not know anything about the Dex-Cool until after I sent them all my documentation, and when I questioned them about it they hadn't heard one thing about it. How could the claims department not know about a class action law suit that involves millions of cars. It really concerns, and makes me fearful of the outcome of my claim.
