Veterans Affairs - Had head injury in service
I was stationed in Gelnhausen, Germany. I had just come off of 'Reforger' and we were standing in full battle dress, in formation. I had passed out and was taken to the local dispensery. I later was taken to the Rhine Main Hospital for treatment. I did not know I was in the hospital, nor what I was treated for. I later found out that I had a left eye orbit injury. After I ets'd from the service in Nov. 76, I was watching an ad in tv about Brain Injury and some of the symptoms of it. I was still going to the VA hospital in Poplar Bluff, Mo. to Mental Health for problems arising from the head injury. I told them about the advertising at the the VA in Poplar Bluff and then I was let go on my treatments. I returned to the VA Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. on the same thing, given some tests and I heard nothing on the responses from that. However, in later years, as late as late year, I was assigned a Holistic Nurse to talk to. I asked to be assigned to a doctor but after talking to him, he just stated to me that I was a 'Survivor' type. I feel that I've been unjustly treated for the Head Injury and that my VA benefits have been taken away from me...my educational, home purchasing, etc. I never got my Life Insurance policy extension from the VA, too. You don't have a place, above where this occured, so I put my home town here. It happened in Europe in Gelnhausen, Germany.
