tiffin motorhomes - ripped off by tiffin motorhomes,, inc.
on 11042006 purchased a 2007 allegro open road motorhome model number 35tsa. the tenth character of the vehicle identification number denotes the model year. the tenth character of my vin number is a 6. meaning by the vin number this is a 2006. i contacted tiffin motorhomes, inc. 105 2nd street nw red bay, alabama 35582. a mr. kenneth w. neal phone number 256-356-8661 ext. 2294. he told me i was wrong about the vin number and it was a 2007. i had the local sheriff's office check the vin number for me they also said it was a 2006. after telling mr. kenneth w. neal about this he did admit that they used a 2006 chassis to build this 2007 motorhome and the vin number and chassis was not important. at the time we purchased this motorhome the president of tiffin motorhomes bob tiffin walked us around and through this motorhome i asked him point blank if this was a 2007 motorhome his response was yes it is a 2007motorhome. the chassis is made up of the motor, transmission, rear end, suspension, steering wheel, wheels and tires, gas tank, and drive shaft. mr. neal told me that these parts were not important and just the coach part is all that matters. tiffin motorhomes offered me three additional months of warranty and one month payment on my loan as a settlement. needless to say i refused this. also, if i have my vehicle inspected the state tells me they go by the vin number and the vin number only as identification as far as there concerned this is a 2006. i have asked them for a refund or a replacement motorhome. i do not understand why the whole us of a goes by a vehicle identification number and tiffin motorhomes goes by a serial number on a piece of paper. i have taken it to other rv dealers and they go by the vin number and it is the first thing they ask for, if you are going to sale it. to own and travel in a motorhome is a dream that we have had for the last 15 years. this has turned into a real nightmare for us. i do hope and pray somebody out there will help with this.
