My husband and I had our insurance with Nationwide for several years. When we decided to purchase a house we told our agent that we would only purchase a house that Nationwide Insurance would insure. We finally decided on a house and gave the information to our agent, I told my agent that we would walk away form the deal if they were not able to insure the property. I gave them the address and they said that they can insure the property, so we purchased the house. I believe a month or month and a half went by and we received a letter from Nationwide Insurance saying that they were dropping our coverage. When I called to find out why I received a letter stating that it was because the house was on piers. We have a problem with this, first of all Nationwide Insurance was able to look at the public records and see that the house was built on piers since it was built in 1925. Had they done this one little step beforing saying that they would insure the property we would not have purchased the house and been forced to go with the state insurer and avoided all the stress that it has caused. I found out afterwards that insurance companies have 90 days to do whatever they want without any recourse apparently. I am writing to my state representative, changes have to be made to protect the consumer.

If you're also a victim of this company, then submit your own Nationwide Insurance complaint letter
