Sacramento County Main Jail - Global Tel Link
I was using my home phone service to accept collect calls from my husband in the Sacramento County Main Jail. Suddenly Global Tell Link has taken over my phone service and will only allow him to call if I put 25.00 or 50.00 on a pre-paid account sent to them. Out of this account they remove anywhere from 5 to 7. just for putting the money there. Each call is actually a local call but it cost's me 5.00 for approximately 15 minutes. I have asked the jail and GLT to remove thier block and allow me to use my own phone carrier. They both refuse. This is unfair. Why should I be made to use someones phone service that I don't want. It's my money, I shopuld be able to spend as I want. Just how legal is this? To step in and remove my phone service with out my consent?

I have a similar complaint. They are over billing, over charging, excessive fees, and reps that are rude. I've had numerous dropped calls, so that when my loved one calls back, it's at premium charges!
I've also complained to Ca.gov.com, FDC, and several other sites that take complaints about this company.
