Below is a copy of an email I sent to Kmart. It explains how I wasn't allowed to use my manufacter coupons the way the manufacter intended.

Dear Eddie,
I really appreciate you buying Kmart so that Wal-Mart is not the only national discount retailer. You might like to hear this story; I think it would give you a peek into the daily workings and attitudes of your employees.
Recently, I tried to participate in a great promotion put on by Proctor and Gamble and Durecell which would result in me recieving a 10.00 gift card from Kmart. Great marketing strategy, I must say- I move inventory for you, recieve a gift card that is only good at Kmart which ensures I return to the store and move more product! And when done correctly, Kmart gets the 10.00 reimbursed from Proctor and Gamble (says so, right on the coupon!) Brilliant!
Brilliant, except someone forgot to tell the managers the concept behind this promotion. I was in your Lubbock, Texas store doing 3 SEPERATE transactions (following directions on the coupon) when I was stopped by the manager and told I could only use 1. Not only could I only use 1, but it was '1 per household' and I qoute ' Lady don't send your husband in here to do this, its only 1 per household and I better not see you come back in this store with those coupons again. I will recognize you.'
Forgive me, but no where on the coupon does it state '1 per household'. I find it amazing (and perhaps illegal) that Kmart managers can change the terms and conditions of a manufacturers coupon.
Eddie, you ought to know that I left your store without purchasing anything. I left 19.50 worth of batteries and 18.00 worth of PG products on the counter, which also means I didn't get my 3 10.00 gift cards (gee you guys would have been reimbursed for that!) and so now I don't have in my hot little hand an incentive to go back to Kmart and purchase at least 30.00 more dollars worth of inventory. Do your managers not understand the concept of turning inventory?
This experience alone reminds me why I avoid Kmart, a chance to build some kind of customer loyalty with me is shot. I will continue to purchase Duracell and PG products, they did nothing wrong...I will just purchase them at Target like I have done in the past.
Gee Eddie, isn't owning a giant corporation a lot of fun?
