Mastercard - zero liability
In August of 2006 I put a deposit down on a cabin for my vacation in Tenneessee. On August 22nd of 2007, I called this company to pay the balance of the cabin only to be informed that the Company I rented the cabin from closed its doors and left 100's of people without a cabin rental. This happened in April of 2007. I was also informed that the rental Company supposedly gave people back any deposit they put down on the cabins. I checked my banking statements and found that in February of 2007 the cabin rental company did credit the money back to me only to remove it again that same day. So I called the bank. The bank called MAstercard and told them the situation. Mastercard claimed there is a 115 day window to file a fraud complaint and that window of time was past. They would not allow the bank to file the complaint against the company even after telling them that we just found out about all of this. I called them only to be referred back to my bank. I called my bank back only to be told the same thing. No where on their website does it say that there is a window of time for zero liability. Nor did anyone tell us anything about this when we were issued the card. The amount we lost was 648.79. This may not be alot to the big boys sitting up in those offices but it is alot to me.
