Bally''s Total Fitness - Bally''s Total Fitness Charged me for services never rendered and ruined my credit
I filled out a swepstakes form for Bally's Total Fitness around 2001, in which they where offering FREE membership for whomever won the grand prize. I was contacted by Bally's to go to my nearest Bally's which is the one around Riverdale in the Bronx, NY.
I went to claim my prize and when I got there they inform me that the prize was for a free one week-free membership. They gave me some paperwork for the claim of the prize. I figured that one-week membership was not worth it and I never return nor did I sign a Contract. A few months later I received a bill from Bally's for approximaly 480.00. I tried going to that Bally's to speak to a manager to inquire WHY I was getting a Bill, they were never there. I was given the phone number to the District and Regional managers who were never available. I just left it alone, then I received another bill and tried again to contact someone in authority at Bally's concerning my bill, and again I was given sathe run around. After about a year or so I tried to rent and apartment and when my credit check was done, I found out my only outstanding delinquent account was Bally's Total Fitness which to this point I owed them about 4,000 without ever using their gym or signing a contract. January 2006 I was sued by Bally's in a small claims court. I met with the lawyer who represented Bally's and he propossed I pay and that he would talk to his client to lower my bill. I refused to pay so he told me that he would postpone the suit to investigate. 2 months later he dropped the suit because ther was no evidence of me signing a contract but they had already ruined my credit for the last 4-5 years. Please come forward if something similar has happend to you.
