directv - Automatic Renewal after Cancellation
Hello,
Direct TV had a special with Free movies with NFL Ticket. I signed up on December 11th, 2008 by the coaxing of a Direct TV representative over the phone. I was told I need to cancel the special in 30 days if I don't want to pay full price for those services. I called and canceled the service on January 6th and went back to my standard service. Starting in May, Direct TV began charging me 44.95 for NFL ticket again. When I realized I had these charges stemming back to May, I called Direct TV and spoke with a Supervisor on October 6th at 4:15 p.m. I was told that because I accepted NFL ticket in December 2008, I was signed up for automatic renewal. I told him I canceled it January 6th so the representative should have canceled it then. I was told a notice was sent to my email in May about the renewal and I needed to call and cancel if I did not want it. I get hundreds of soliciting emails from Direct TV. I did not see this notice.
Direct TV will not refund the money or cancel the program. I am paying for NFL ticket and we don't watch it. We did not ask for it. We canceled it in January.
I want to put a stop to Direct TV doing this to other customers as well.
