I have replaced my transmission TWICE in my 2001 jaguar s-type. First time, I was cruising on the hiway at 75 and the transmission just came out of gear, leaving me wno power and having to coast to the side of the road, hoping I didn't get rearended. Dealership replaced tranny wa rebuilt one and said it was the parking claw cable that needed stretched and to always use my parking break to avoid it happening again. (clearly that wasn't it as it happened a 2nd time). 6k repair cost, nothing covered or compensated.

Second time I was in the most remote part of ColoradoKansas at night with little traffic and no cell service when it quit. I had to merely sit and wait until someone came by. Completely friedburned up. The only 'notice' I got that anything was wrong was just minutes before the tach shot up then plummeted. And I'd done as suggested above, using my parking break, allowing the car to 'settle' before putting into park and not gassing the accelerator. 4,500 repair cost again at my cost but through a local mechanic shop instead of dealership.

Totally love the car, love the ride but hate this reoccurring expense and lack of support from Jag
