JaguarFord - Faulty Transmissions
I purchased a used 2002 Jaguar X-type with approximately 45,000 miles on it in November 2007. When I got to 62000 miles the transmission seized and would not operate. There was no warning, no slippage at all. I put the vehicle in reverse and it would not operate afterwards. Going online I found that many people who purchased the x-type and the s-type have had some-type of issue with their transmission. The average cost to repair 5000.00. Also their are TSB (Technical Service Bulletins) stating that the reverse clutch piston is faulty and can cause the trans to seize. After contacting Jaguar I was basically given the runaround about the TSB until I gave the representative the website, to no avail. They stated since it was out of factory warranty that they could not fix it wo charging me. THE DEFECT IS NOT RELATED TO HOW YOU DRIVE IT IS A DESIGN FAULT THAT JAGUAR-FORD WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF.
