Whirlpool - defective product
I purchased a new Whirlpool Calypso wash machine in April of 2006 from a retail department store. 2 years later (spring of 2008) I had to replace the pump at a cost of approximatly 200. I purchased a new Whirlpool Calypso wash machine in April of 2006 from a retail department store. 2 years later (spring of 2008) I had to replace the pump at a cost of approximatly 200. I contacted Whirlpool, at the time, to see if the repairs were covered by warranty. They were not. Just last week (Sept 2009), the washer experienced, what appeared to be problems with the elecrical circuit board(s). It actually started beeping on its own, a couple days after I had last used it. The digital display indicated ''28'' and would not clear or reset. Once again, I phoned Whirlpool, which said they would cover the cost of replacing the circuit board(s) but not the service call charges and labor for the repairs. I contacted my local certified repairman, whom came on 91109. His diagnosis was faulty circuit boards and interface (touch pad). He immediately contacted his parts supplier, whom informed him that the replacement parts were not going to be available until November 5th, which was completely unacceptable. I then contacted Whirlpool again to express my displeasure with their product, and the ''best'' they could do was offer me a 20 percent rebate on the purchase of a new washer.
