N.E.S. - collections
I recieved a call @ 8:30 A.M. on Aug. 10 2009 from a mr. Wolfe. He informed me that there is an 'outstanding' debt of less than300. After I had to pressure him to tell me who he was. The debt is actually in my wifes name, I have nothing to do with this debt.I told him this and he asked why I dont just pay it and he went through the payment methods. I repeated the fact that this is my wifes debt. I told him that I have been in Iraq for the past 6 months and had no idea what was going on with this particular debt. I told mr. Wolfe that he would have to talk to her about this and that she was not home. This operator had attitude from the first moment I wanted to know who he was. I dont respond well to attitude as when I deal with the military on a daily basis, attitude is not taken lightly. You could loose your job immediately if there is a complaint about your behavior. When I told mr. Wolfe that I would not make a payment he asked why I was even married to my wife. At this point I lost it. I did use several explitives at this point, never insulting him. He again asked why I dont just pay this debt, I informed him that I was home from Iraq and that I send my check home from Iraq and my wife pays the bills. He then made a comment that I 'must not wear the pants in the family.'. I also used explitives at this point. I know that being a debt collector must be a difficult job, but there is a certain manner of respect that you must give a person before you attack his family. Mr. Wolfe never gave me that respect. I did insult him towards the end of our conversation as I felt I was provoked. This man also called me a child. I leave for Iraq again in a few days this really struck a nerve with me as I have never recieved treatment like this from any collector before. I also dont see 300 dollars as an outstanding debt.
