EVERCOM - WON''T REFUND MONEY NOT USED
LAST YEAR I PREPAID 75.00 TO EVERCOM. THE SERVICES WERE NEVER USED, NOT EVEN ONE TIME. SINCE THEN I HAVE TRIED TWICE TO GET MY MONEY REFUNDED TO ME. THEY TELL ME THEIR POLICY IS THAT AFTER 180 DAYS THE ACCOUNT IS CLOSED. I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF THIS EITHER VERBALLY OR BY PAPERWORK. THE MONEY IS THEN REMOVED FROM MY ACCOUNT, AND THE ACCOUNT SHOWS CLOSED. HOW CAN THEY KEEP MONEY FOR SERVICES THAT WERE NEVER PERFORMED? IF THEY HAVE A TIME ALLOTMENT AND THE MONEY IS NOT USED BY THE END OF THAT TIME, IT SHOULD BE RETURNED TO THE CUSTOMER AND NOT PUT INTO THE POCKETS OF THE COMPANY. THAT IS TAKING SOMETHING THAT IS NOT YOURS. JUST THINK OF HOW MUCH MONEY THEY MAY KEEP THAT PEOPLE PREPAID AND PHONE CALLS WERE NEVER MADE AND EVERCOM'S SERVICES WERE NEVER USED. IF I WERE TO TAKE SOMETHING THAT IS NOT MINE FROM SOMEONE ELSE THAT WOULD BE CALLED STEALING. HOW IS THIS ANY DIFFERENT AND LEGAL? SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THE UNFAIR PRACTICES OF THESE COMPANIES!
