Bayer Healthcare and Mirena IUD - mirena iud,, cyst removed (drained)
I had Mirena Iud put in May 2008. By September I started having some discomfort, which I blew off. In October and November I went to the E.R. with cramping and soreness. Both times I was sent home. In March of this year (2009), I was in so much pain it was unbearable. I couldn't stand, walk, sit. I had such a severe pain in my right side, that I couldn't even out my right foot on the ground. I had such severe migraines that would not go away for days. My head hurt so bad, I couldn't rest my head on my pillow. Lightly touching my head felt like I was being severly beaten upon my head. No amount of anything that I took helped with my pain. My insides felt like they were on fire. Always throbbing and pulsating, and just really badly hurting. It felt like endometriosis all over again, which I had as a teen, but cleared up after my first pregnancy. I was already taking pain killers and anti-inflamatory meds for my back condition, so what else could I possibly do to feel better?? Nothing. Finally one Saturday morningin March, the pain was so intense it woke me up. I woke up curled up in the fetal position with a pillow pushed up against my abdomen, I guess to try to subdo the pain. A few hours later I go to the E.R., and after the longest day of my life, and E.R. experience, I was told I had a 8cm X 8cm cyst on my right ovary. At first glance on the CT Scan, it looked as if the mass was on my appendix. Then after a team of Dr.'s read the CT Scan, it was determined the mass was a cyst on my ovary. I needed surgery and quickly. And after the most painful experience next to being in labor, I still have the Iud in. For some reason my doctors felt I should leave it in and take birth control pills along with it. Because of my scar tissue from 2 C-Sections, they were unable to remove the cyst, so they drained it, with the possibiliy that it could re-fill, and I would need surgery again. Which makes no sense to me at all. It's now mid-June and I'm starting to feel that mild discomfort coming on again, even with taking the birth control. This time, if it happens again, which I hope it doesn't, I know not to wait until I feel like death. I hope someone else reads this and if you have the same symptoms go right to the hospital, no doctor visit, just go to a hospital and don't leave until you know whats wrong with you. I was turned away twice, and I was told I was very lucky I caught my problem in time, another day or two and the cyst could have burst, and by the time they found out was wrong, I would have bleed to death. If I could take this thing out myself I would.
