Bayer Healthcare and Mirena IUD - displaced iud
I received a Mirena IUD after the birth of my second son in January 2008. I had terrible cramps and went back for my first check up because I could feel the strings. He clipped my strings and talked me into keeping the iud by saying my body has to get used to it but the pain will subside. The pain did decrease until my monthly cycle was supposed to begin each month then I had the worst pain. I have not had a cycle since March and last week the pain became too much. I was constipated and had a shooting pain throughout my body. On friday I spent six hours in the er to find out I have a 'CYST' on my uterus. Today at my gyn appt we found out it is not a cyst it is my iud in my cervix. I was then informed I must have surgery...great! I have been told this could possibly end my chances of having more children. I should have been informed and this is just ridiculous. I don't want to have surgery. How did this happen if it was inserted correctly and obviously it was I am not pregnant. I am just so upset knowing all this could have been avoided had I known the cramps and pain meant a problem not my body getting used to a foreign object!
