Bad Gasoline in Florida- purchased at Kangaroo - Bad gas has ruined my car
Last July (2008) I filled my vehicle at a Kangaroo gas station in Gainesville Florida. I drove approximately 5 miles after filling up when my check engine light came on and my car began to drive very roughly. I got to a stopping point and turned the car off. When I went to turn it back on again it started idling like a diesel engine ( mine is a gasoline engine) and the smell of gas permeated the car. I had the car towed to my repair shop with my Triple A and after their assessment it was determined that I had purchased a bad tank of gas which ended up eating the screen off of all of my fuel injectors. To make a long story short, since last July I have had the car in for related repairs 4 times, spent near 4,000 to do so not to mention the towing and being without a car, have had my car a total of 4 months out of this time and as of today, after another repair due to related issues AND after it running for 3 months with no problem I broke down again with the same problem- check engine light, rough idle, etc. I am pissed. I know form my car repair shop that this was an issue ( bad gas in my area) because several repair shops had cars in for similar reasons. The corker of it all is that I have a good car ( Mercedes ML 430) in which I have maintained all of my scheduled maintenance and have only used premium gas even when it was extremely expensive to do so. Now, once again, I am without my car with no way to get to my job or get my kids to school. I cannot afford any more repairs and quite honestly, I think that the gas company needs to be responsible for this since two weeks after my trouble started several gas stations in town covered their pumps and were not selling gas at certain locations.
I would like to know if anyone else in my vicinity has had trouble or if there is some legal recourse I have ( class action, a lawyer in town to help me). I don't believe my car is ever going to be correct again and now it isn't worth a damn thing because I would have to disclose this information to any potential buyer. What can I do?
