I received a phone call from a Mr. Hanna from the Central Credit Services, Inc. Company today. This call was about my American Express bill which is overdue. However, this company (who I knew nothing about) had been given my account to collect. I had been sending my payment in each month to NationWide and they had agreed to 150.00 a month payment. I knew nothing about this company. However, when I received their letter in the main a few week ago, I did send my 150.00 in to them. When they called, I was at home and it was a cell phone number. I have no problem answering my phone, however usually when I receive cell phone calls they are considered important to me. A young lady was on the phone and she was calm and she explained what it was about, and I informed her that I had been paying this account as payments had been arranged with Nationwide. She transferred me to a Mr. Hanna. This man did not state his name, just began telling me what I had better do, and informed me that I have other credit cards where I can put the money together to pay them. I told him that I did not want to put money from credit cards together to send him such payment, and that I have been sending my payment in as agreed with Nationwide. I also, informed him that I had send an 150.00 payment on 4209 to his company, which he had no information on this. He then asked me if Nationwide had cashed the 300 payment that I had sent to them. I told him that I did not go back to find out if they had cashed it since I had not heard that they hadn't. He then stated that if I would not get money from the other credit cards to pay on this bill, that he would just go back and tell American Express that I refused to pay. I then asked him if he was threatening me. He stated that he just needed a yes or no answer. I told him that I've been paying, how could this even be stated since it had been agreed upon by Nationwide the previous collector. He stated that he would just tell them I refused to pay, and hung up. He tried to intimidate me where I could not get a word in. He continued to bager me on the phone, and admitted that he would lie and tell American Express that I refused to pay them, when I have been doing so. What can I do?
