I have a loved one incarcerated. When he calls, I incur the charge. The first minute is almost 4.00, than every minute after that is nearly .70. I actually timed the calls. It seems that GTL time clocks go faster than our time clocks. Also, I have noticed numerous dropped calls. When we are talking the phone goes dead, my loved one calls me back at the premium price. I have called GTL because my phone was blocked. I was told by the operator that I had reached my 'magic number of calls'. I'm not sure what the 'magic number of calls' is, but I guess I reached it. She informed me that I wasn't 'allowed this many calls'. Okay, I've violated the law. I pay my bills on time, and now, I'm being told that I wasn't 'allowed this many calls'. I am now a pre-paid customer, because of this bull! It seems that I can't use ATT, my phone company for billing. I have tried to pay extra on the phone bill, but like ATT has said, 'we don't know what your charges will be.' When I started this pre-paid plan, you can pay either 25 or 50...nothing else. Than, this sneaky company takes out a fee. Guess how much the fee is. It's 10.00! Every time you make a paymen, they charge you 10.00 for making that payment! I feel that this company would rather us not talk with our loved ones! I feel cheated, lied to, taken advantage of, and hurt that a company would be so rude to their customers....when they call you back which takes hours! Many other states have made them drop their charges. I wish California would too! This company should be made to reimburse the people that they have overbilled, not refunded their money, over charged fees (by the way, there are no billing statements even when asked for them), and rude customer service representitives. The quality of the calls are horrible. It is hard to hear past the static on the line!
