the last week of January, I called up 'direct tv', 'dish network', and 'time warner cable', for quotes on their services. Direct tv gave me the best offer, that I wasn't sure if it's true, so I called direct tv back to confirm the deal. I signed up for Direct tv with this package that I was suppose to recieve...over 200 channels 50 premium movie channels for 49.97 a month if I sign a 1 year contract. There will be a coupon mailed to me that I need to return in order to recieve this deal. I did all that! After the first 2 weeks, I haven't recieved a bill, so I called up to find out why my bill wasn't being mailed to me. I called back the number I called to recieve Direct tv and asked for the lady that had told me about this deal, and she was no longer at this ext. I asked if they could tell me the new ext. of hers and they told me they don't keep records of that. I then called the number on the form from direct tv that came with the satellite system. Before you talk to a representative a review of your account comes up and it was 70 something dollars, more than what I signed up for. When the rep. came on the phone I asked first on why my bill wasn't being mailed, he said it was mailed to my alternate address. I advised him that I no longer live at the alternate address and he confirmed that the other address they had was correct. It was, so I then asked him why my bill is 70 something dollars and not 49 something dollars. He just said that the coupon hasn't come in yet, so I need to wait for that to be processed. Alright. I waited a month, and still no bill. Again I call Direct Tv to inform them about my bills not being sent. I heard my account report when I called them up, and this time it was for about 140. They had my address wrong when it was correct a month ago, and again they just told me that the coupon still hasn't been processed. He asked when I mailed it and told him at the end of Feb. He told me that it might take another 2 weeks. 2 weeks go by, and still no bill. I called again and this time my address was wrong again, that's when I told them that it's funny that the satellite system had no problem finding its way here, but my bill isn't. They corrected it again. A few days later I recieve a call from Direct tv for not paying my bill. I informed her that I had not recieved the bill, she then checked my account and the address was still wrong. She corrected it and informed me that my bill should be here within 3-5 business days. I also gave her my home phone , for they just had my cell. She also said that I need to 24 something by Friday or my services will be cut. The next day I got another call from Direct tv, by this time I was getting very frustrated with this company, she had called my cell phone and I asked her to call me back at the other number I just gave them. Didn't hear from them that day, but the next day I got a call again, but this time on my house phone. She advised me about me not paying my bill, I informed her that I just got a call 2 days ago from you guys and I will paying the 24 something on friday. One week goes by and still no bill. I call back again, and again I'm currious on why my bill is so high. The rep. checked my address and this time its correct, so why was my bill not reaching me. I asked her and she said that she will mail out my bill and I should recieve it 3-5 bussiness days, if I do not recieve it within that time frame I need to go to my post office and find out why my bill is not reaching me. After this I totally forgot to mention about my bill, so I thought that I will wait for my bill to come in the mail. 4 days later, my bill finally arrives. We pay the full amount in 2 increments. This whole time about 2 12 months have passed. A few weeks later the new bill comes out, and still no change in the charges. I called direct tv again. I adviced them on my package deal that I should be recieving and how the coupon should be infect by now. She adviced me the coupon is in affect, but it's only taking 10 off. I again told her the package of what I signed up for. She then told me that they don't have that deal going on. Never had that deal! I then told her the whole process and she transferred me to someone else who might be able to assist me. The other person still told me that I was 'misinformed' about the packages that they offer. I then told her that I was not misinformed, I was straight out lied too. She apologized for the misunderstanding, and again I told her that I did not misunderstand anything. It went like that for a while, I eventually asked her how much I would have to pay now. She told me 116 something, I then was appalled. I told her that your telling me that from what I was suppose to pay,my bill of 49 something I now have to pay 116. To make it short I cancelled the contract and told them that they were in breach of the contract and not me. I then contacted the BBB and the consumer affairs office. The BBB had no luck with direct tv, they told me to contact the office I had recieved the package deal from. The consumer affairs is still in progress. I just want out of my contract that was never in affect for I was lied to from the get go. The total BAIT AND SWITCH TATIC! I want my cancellation fee that was taken out of my account of 420 something, put back into my account. I would also like to make other couples, people aware on how this company seems to get their customers. I have a neighbor downstairs that signed up with almost the same package as I, and was also lied to. The neighbor is happy to have sat. , so she isn't going to cancel, she'd rather pay her 100 something bill. I could not afford it, so I now have Dish network and pay 60 something a month for 150 channels and HBO. Much better. Would appreciate if someone could help me get my cancellation fee back.
