I had the Mirena IUD put in December 19, 2007. Ever since then, I have one problem after another. I was informed that I would have 'irregualr bleeding' and 'minor cramps and discomfort'. Four months later I am still bleeding. My boyfriend has noticed a dramatic differnce in my moods. One minute I am fine and the next minute I will be on a huge crying jag that won't end. It's like permanent PMS. The cramps won't subside and I am sick nearly every day. I'm always throwing up and exhausted. When I called the doctor, the nurse practioner told me this was 'normal'. I told her that if this is 'normal' after having an IUD, I would rather feel the way I did prior to having the insertion. Feeling normal doesn't consist of vomiting all the time, severe fatigue, back pain, leg pain, severe cramps, body aches and moodswings. I also explained that during the insertion of the IUD I experienced pain like no other. Again, this is 'normal'. After feeling like I have been thrown into a depressents body full of aches and pains and everything else, I scheduled an appointment for today to have the thing taken out so I can feel what I think NORMAL is! I can't believe that they don't tell you about the severe side effects and the manufactures make this out to be the 'safest' form of birth control. I think it should be taken off the market and I am praying that when I go in today to have it removed, everything goes smoothly and I don't have lasting effects from this.
