If you are a Direct TV Subscriber..BEWARE! To beleive what this company can do to people completely baffles me, and I am surprised that there is not a class action lawsuit placed against them.
Unbeknowance to my husband or myself, we were cancelling our service due to incorrect billing charges and disrespect of our customer loyalty that we had for almost four years. Upon contacting DirectTV for cancellation, they had advised us that there was a 250.00 cancellation fee. Again, we stated that we were within our two year contract that had expired, as we were cutomers for four years. We had been advised that since they replaced a DEFECTIVE box (TIVO passed on) that we automatically agreed to re-extend our contract for another two years. AT NO POINT were we verbally advised of this, nor would we have agreed to accept their equipment.
They CLAIM it is in the inital contract that you have when you originally execute service. THERE IS NOTHING IN WRITING from this company, but on their website. They have many many disclaimers that 'cover them' that the American public is not aware of!
I have read many 'blogs' and complaints against Direct TV against this (not to mention other unlawful postings) and I am shocked that there is no one law firm large enough to originate a class action lawsuit against them...
BE VERY CAREFUL dealing with this company, they will get you for everything and then make sure your credit is blemmished if not...
