Applied for an auto loan through capital one, was approved. They sent me the paperwork with the blank check to be written to the dealer. Bought a car with the check, went through all the appropriate registration issues listing capital one as the lein holder. The tital was than sent through the state than on to capital one. 2 weeks later we get a call from the dealer telling us that the check bounced that they had contacted capital one and they had no record of us, that this is some sort of fraud. Dealer is now threatening to sue. I can't get another loan for the car because capital one kept my title to turn over to their fraud dept. After several phone calls, I finally got in touch with someone that could fine me in their computer they told me that they had decided not to give me the loan after all. In my opinion this decision should have been made before I was issued a blank check all the loan documents that needed signed. So now I have a dealership getting ready to sue me a car with a missing title.
