Seat Allotment

Report Fraud
Air India

Here's my self explanatory complaint which I sent to Air India airlines which explains the frustration and inconvenience caused by the Airlines:

Travel Date: 08-Dec-2007, flight AI126 from Chicago to Mumbai.

I confirmed twice before the travel date of getting a Basinate seat for my son (infant) travellig with me and my wife. The two seath with Basinate seat were conformed. At Chicago airport, my seats were changed and given one with basinate and one in next (back) row. Also there were other passengers with infants who had confirmed basinate seats before flight date and at Chicago airport the seats were changed and given somewhere in back without basinate. In middle row, the two seats (with basinate seat) were not assigned to anyone. On reaching Frankfurt, I came to know that since there was 4 AirIndia staff passengers travelling from Frankfurt to Mumbai, 4 the seats next to basinate seat (E,F,G and H) were assigned for them (since there is more leg room to sit). Further, on my left row (A,B), there was a couple with a infant, and the basinate seat was broken. They did complaint to get it repaired in Frankfurt, which was not done. On starting from Frankfurt, they asked airlines staff to switch their seat from left rows (A,B) to the middle row (E,F) where Airindia staff was sitting on basinate seat. Airlines staff did not take any measures to switch their seats either.
How can basinate seats be assigned to anyone else when there as infants in flight.

Travel Date: 31-Dec-2007, flight AI127 from Mumbai to Chicago.

Again, I had confirmed basinate seat, and I confirmed 3 times before the fligth for the same. This time I was given 59 D,E and F, and was confirmed 2 times with Airlines that these seats are with basinate seat. On reaching airport while getting boarding pass, I came to know that these seats are not with basinate seat and the actual basinate seats are 56 D,E,F. The airindia staff refused to give me those seats saying that the flight is full. On reaching in flight, I came to know that actual basinate seats which are 56 D,E and F were alloted to passengers WITHOUT any infants. How can such mistakes be accepted. By law, basinate seats are first preference for Infants and then for general passengers (if there is no infant).

AirIndia should take strict measures and get a clerifications about this mess created by airlnes. Further they should also refund the money for my tickets. Failing to get a proper clerification, I will take this matter to consumer court and get a proper justification on the entire case.
