In 1996 my husband was diagnosed with hepatitus C and told he would need a liver transplant to survive. We jumped through all of kaisers hoops, driving into San Francisco for an appt with the transplant team. My husband took weekly blood test for over a year that we believed were to check how his liver was doing. Ultimately we foudn out they were drug tests. We were told he would not be listed and began to look at what to do next. WE ultimately move home to Utah so that he can die in the mountains. We ended up with a doctor here of course and within six months we was listed here to receive a transplant. It wasn't that Unos wouldn't list him and at that point we figured it had something to do with Kaiser. I am happy to say that my husband is doing well. He did receive a transplant in May of 2000. However we did have to move to get him listed and he suffered a great deal.
Now that it has come out that there were problems with the kidney tranplant program at Kaiser I am wondering if the same is true for their liver transplants?
