We ordered Direct tv in April 2007. We never could make it work well (dvr) and were unsatisfied with the picture. We cancelled the service August 2007. We have been billed 250 cacellation fee.
1. We were never told of an early cancellation fee.
2. We never signed as contract.
3. When I disputed the bill, I was sent a copy of a 'Customer Agreement' which I never recieved but am now told is available on their website. This Agreement:
a. Never discloses an amount or fee for early termination.
b. Never states a term for the agreement, only referring to a contract which we never signed.
c. Binds you to arbitration.
So basically, once they install service, they get to pick a number out of their fanny and bill you for it. I cannot believe they can enforce a contract that never existed, was never disclosed, and never agreed to. Does the law allow this?
Can you imagine the money they are strongarming the public for?
PS. They will not divulge a telephone number for their corporate or legal offices.
