My son's student loan , thought to be in deferrment, was somehow defaulted. I am stilll trying to get in contact with AES about that. In the meantime, as soon as I found out what happened, I called the above and was told as was my son that we have 1 working day to come up with 5000 and 350 a month for nearly ten years for a 22,000 loan. If not, it was going to 'billing' 'immediately'. Credit ruined, garnishment forecoming. Etc etc. No mention of interest rate, fair credit evaluation ..nothing. I will pay , because it is owed, but not the way they want to cheat us with threats, time jamming . We have the right to clear up this mistake and see if it is a just action by all.
