I had been with Verizon with no complaints for 2.5 years, except cost. On July 4th '07 I went to an event sponsored by Centennial Wireless. They had a retail tent set up.
I spoke to a Blueshirt, Ana Soldana, near the end of the event. I told her what we wanted; a plan with two lines, similar features, fewer minutes that we didn't need and weren't using with Verizon, and lower monthly fees. She showed us a Centennial plan that was 20 dollars LESS a month (before taxes, surcharges etc, assuming no extra minutes or other extras). The plan had half the minutes of our Verizon plan, but we weren't using nearly our allotted minutes, so it seemed reasonable. I said to her, ' We will still have voice-mail, caller ID and call waiting with this plan? They are included in this plan?' I was VERY clear about this. She said yes. We signed up.
Well, they AREN'T. It took us nearly three months to figure out why we couldn't use our phones with the features we were told we would have. At end of September we finally realized, after speaking with Centennial blue shirts at two different stores, that in order to get those same features we had with Verizon, we would have to pay ADD-ON fees for each line. This would make our bill HIGHER with Centennial for HALF THE MINUTES we had with Verizon. We have complained to Centennial's live chat Customer Service and were referred to the retail store. We complained to the Centennial rep who lied to us. We have been told there is nothing they will do, they will not release us from the contract and that our termination fees are 250 PER LINE, if we terminate. I asked them: why would anyone in their right mind incur termination fees to their previous provider, only to switch to Centennial and pay HIGHER monthly bills for HALF the minutes and the SAME FEATURES. I told the rep we were given false information, and had we known the truth we would never jave signed. We asked to get the features we were told we would get for no add-on costs. Centennial declined. We asked to be released from our contract. Centennial declined. We have been given no satisfaction. The blueshirts say they're 'sorry' but offer nothing else.
