I purchased my 2002 Honda CRV from a Sherman Oaks, CA dealership in March 2005 before moving to GA. In May 2005 the steering column blew and had to be replaced in its entirety. Thankfully, I had an extended warranty that covered it.
In March 2007 our air compressor blew, destroying almost the entire AC system. Honda quoted a price of nearly 3000!!! I was referred to a private company, who performed the repair with new parts for 1600. Well, in August of 2007 - just 5 months later - the EXACT SAME SAME THING HAPPENED!!! The shop repaired the car (props to Auto Cool in Sandy Springs, GA, since the parts were under warranty so they charged nothing were very quick!!) and told me they had done 5 of these repairs in the last year on Honda CRV's. I cannot afford the time or money - nor can the shop, I'm sure - to keep fixing the same problem every 5 months. They said the original compressor (that was in the car when I bought it) was acutally made by Kia, not Honda. Regardless, seeing as this is a consistent problem with this car, Honda needs to to DO SOMETHING. I pay over 400 a month for this car, and I expect MUCH better from Honda. I don't drive in adverse conditions or excessive mileage, so these are not a factor.
