Forward: My daughter was arrested for stealing food from Albertson's in Great Falls, I paid the bail and legal fines. Now she has received a letter from Albertson's demanding 200. She took less than 90 worth of food. COMPLAINT: I know stores write-off losses, thefts, and so on; therefore I believe the simply restocked the items and no damages can be claimed. Besides, I don't think you can get blood from a turnip, as they say! I think they are trying to double dip, restock and sell the items, then frighten people into paying some sort of extortion fee. They threaten to sue and I told my daughter to let them, its going to cost them more in a civil suit than they will receive. What concerns me most is they don't have a sense of morality towards people who often find themselves in dire straights, then do foolish things. I would like some advice on this matter. Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated. If I had a number to call or home office to contact, I would try to persuade them give her a break. She can't make ends meet, so I bought her car and her deadbeat husband refuses to work and pay child support. What do they expect people to do, I ask you? Sincerely, Rev KCL
