My son Christopher was prescribed Risperdal in 1998. About two months later, he started having heart rhythm problems. I carried him to a cardiologists who said I had nothing to worry about. Then, again in Sept. 1999 he started sweating and having heavy breathing, his heart was racing, so I called an ambulance, which transported him to Grady Memorial in Atlanta. He was given an x-ray, EKG, and blood tests there and I was told he had a hole in his heart and arrythemia. Devistated I carried him to another cardilogists who told me Chris had murmur and I that it was nothing to worry about. I was unsatisfied, so I carried him to another cardiologist in Atlanta, and he said Chris had a leaking valve.
Chris never had heart problems before taking Risperdal. His heart rythm is still abnormal. His cholesterol is high. He is now on 1mg. Riseperdal because he's being weaned off of this medication.
All of the Risperdal Mass Tort and Class Action Attorneys are focusing on diabetes, but Risperdal causes heart problems also. I am looking all over America for Mass Tort Risperdal Attorney who will look into the heart risks of this drug. Please see attached e-mail from FDA.
Dear Patricia,
Thank you for writing the Division of Drug Information, in the FDA's
Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.
Since Risperdal is not a FDA approved indication for ADHD, it is not
included in this list. The cardiovascular risks for Risperdal is
already known, and has already been published in 2003:
http:www.fda.govmedwatchSAFETY2003risperdal.htm
The FDA added a black box warning to the drug labeling already:
http:www.fda.govcderfoilabel2006021444s008s015,020588s024s028s029
,020272s036s041lbl.pdf
This was done to make prescribers aware of this risk, and to prevent it
from occuring.
Best regards,

Comments: I read the news release regarding the new labels
concerning ADHD approved drugs and the risk of cardiavascular problems
and I was surprised that Risperdal was not on that list. Although,
Risperdal is has not been approved for treating ADHD, it has long been
prescribed by doctors for this condition and for autism before it was
officially approved by the FDA last year. My question is: When will
the FDA finally tell the truth about the renown cardiavascular affects
of Risperdal? Are there any studies currently being done about it's
cardiavascular effects?
