We rented a U Haul to move from Colorado to Washington. The truck wouldn't go over 35 miles an hour almost the entire way. We didn't make it to our first stop in time so the motel charged us a no-show fee. We had additional expenses for meals due to the trip taking so much longer than it should have.
When we contacted U Haul about the problems with the truck, they wouldn't refund any portion of our rental fee, or any compensation for the additional expenses incurred due to their defective vehicle. They gave us coupons toward another rental, which we gave to our daughter and son-in-law to use when they rented a U Haul when they moved from Colorado to Florida. Their U Haul was even worse than ours. It broke down numerous times during the trip, and they also had extra expenses for lodging and meals while waiting for towing and truck repairs.
I will never again rent a U Haul, and advise anyone else seeking to rent a vehicle to not rent from U Haul.
