COPY OF LETTER I HAVE SENT TO MULTIPLE AGENCIES
I am making you aware that I am sending this letter to my Better Business Bureau, my state attorney general, I have already filled this letter with consumer complaints. I will file this letter with all companies that may be in a position to help me. I consider your practices a type of harrasement.
This started in the early spring of 2006. I received a CD in the mail to try aol for 90 days. I set up the account used my debitcard information and used it once that night. I logged on once more with the first two weeks. I have comcast boadband internet service, I was curious if AOL had services that were worth the money. Remembering that I had only 90 days, in week 5 no more than week 6, I tryed to cancel using a online option, nothing exists. I called the number listed on the web site, after about 15-30 min I was able to get a live person. Before the live person, I had tryed all automated questions to access my account, in the begining, nothing was avaialbe. After explaing to the customer service representative that I wanted to cancel, I was told that they could not bring up my record because no information I gave them, screen name, phone number and billing address matched any record they had. I explained I did not want to be billed andI was specificaly calling almost two months before my free trial ended. I was convinced by aol that it must have been my mistake and they had no information of me in their file.
Around July I noticed a charge for 25.90 from aol, again I called, they went thru the whole thing of what is wrong with aol. I told them about my first call. They kept me on the phone for more than 45 min, I told them that this had to stop and I had to go out with my kids. I had to hang up because it was going on for almost 1 hour
Next time is around sept, I am still being charged. By this time I am furious, I am on the phone for almost 12 hour, after reviewing my information the customer rep says my account is being closed. When I said I want my money back, he said he was going to transfer me to the billing deptartment, they will review my usage time and credit me if I trully never used the service. That calmed me down, he transferred me to a dummy number or at least one that no one picked up, I was on the phone about 40min this includes when he read back my complaint that he said he placed into the computer so 'billing' could review it.
Now just this past sat nov 10th? dont have the calender in front of me. I am beyond furious. This time they say they have no record of ever being called by me. The customer service guy tried to ask why I dont like aol, I said because your company steals, stinks and sucks. This time I let him know about the lawsuits and the tricks they play that i read online. He tells me that my account is being cancelled, I tell him I want all my money back, he says he cant do that I can credit you for two months, I tell him I want all of my money back, this goes no where. A supervisor gets on line and gives me a cancelation number 483-299894, which is one didget short of what the first guy said. He said I would receive a 10 didgit number. I tell that to the supervisor and he said well it starts with a zero. He said that I would receive a two month credit which will take 7-10 days to process on my check card. But when I asked for a sperate number to the credit refund he said that is the same as your cancellation 10 didgit number. Than when I wanted all my money back and to speak to a legal or billing department. I was only given two address, billing, p.o box 65627 sterling va, 20165-8805 and legal aol, legal dept, 22000 aol way, dulles, va 20166. He would not give me a phone number.
I am terrified that I will be billed again and this will never end. I hate this compnay. They have stolen my money, lied and caused me to spend excessive time on the phone. Told me that I was a liar, by inferring that they have no record that i had ever called. I have never sued anyone and have not believed in these type suits. But I am so mad that i would like to be part of a class action suit, just to stop this horrible company.
Who else do I write a letter to and make a big deal about this.
I want and deserve all of my money back. I did the right thing and followed up in a responsible manner.
Sincerely,
Cynthia E LIpman
