After taking Lexapro for anxietydepression, my hair began to fall out by the handfuls about 1 month later. Also, after my doasage was increased from 10mg to 20mg, I started to develop red boils on my face. I cut my dose back down to 10mg and the boils faded away, but the hairloss has continued. After a couple months, I sought help and advice from both my prescribing Dr and the pharmacist and was told it is doubtful the Lexapro could be causing the problem. Now, a little over 3 months since beginning Lexapro for my self-consciousness and anxiety, I have lost more than 50 of my hair. It is devastating, to say the least!! I took it upon myself to check out the internet on other adverse reports on Lexapro, and sure enough, women all over are suffering from the horrible hair loss!! This week, I have invested over 200 in a 2 month hair loss treatment program and was forced to buy a wig today for nearly 300. Worst of all, is my mental state (I am a personal trainer).
There is no way this atrocity can be blamed on anything else. I have never had my hair fall out before. I have had recent blood panels, with absolutely no medical conditions to cause hair loss. In summary, I paid a Dr and a pharmeceutical company to make my already anxiety condition worse! I was not told that this could be a side effect. In fact, I was encouraged that it was most likely NOT the medication! There is no warning on the labels or adverse effects information regarding Lexapro! I beleive a class action lawsuit is warranted!!
