We leased a home (rent to own) last year. It was too good to be true. 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and plenty of space. It was suppose to have 3 acres with the house as well. Our bedroom had a beautiful hot tub in it and we had a full length of the house deck on the back. After one month of living in this house, all hell broke loose. The pipes began bursting and the basement flooded no less than 8 times, the water heater went out numerous times, the hot tub NEVER worked one day the 10 months we lived there. The 3 acres of land were the next door neighbors owned the 3 acres in the front yard and we were to own the acres next door! The kitchen sink pipes burst 3 times, the basement ceiling fell in twice with water and the back bedroom completely flooded ruining everything we had down there on the floor. Then the main water pipe burst and we didn't know where to find it until it had completely filled up the computer room. It was found in a closet in the basement by the way. When we finally came to terms that we could not buy this house, the owners refused to give our deposit back and then tried to make us pay for the water damage and the city for having to come out and turn the water off. We left a perfectly nice home in a great neighborhood for this house and had NOWHERE to go when our 10 months were up. It was a horrible experience and I never want to go through that again. I wish there was someway that we could sue these people for the horrible time they put me and my family through. It costs us a fortune to rent a truck to move the extra deposit to rent another place and numerous other bills that came up.
