Midland Credit Management attempted to collect on old Providian Credit card debt. Currently over 400 cases are on Ct court dockets by rhis firm trying to collect. Many of the cases won by default. One of the main legal firms handling the cases is Shifft out of East Hartford, Ct.

They buy up old debt and re-issue a claim of debt as new on Credit reports. They also alter the amounts owed slightly to look different from orginal debt. They show up in court many times without proper forms proving debt, orginal notes etc. They win because people fail to show up.Many of the debts have been bought and sold several times. Many are as old as 6 years old and in a few cases over 6 years old. All the old debts have been charged off at least once if not twice.

Also another firm is North Star Capitol Acc. doing the same in Ct. Last check of courts indicated as many as 475 cases. They also use the same MO.
