I bought a used chevrolet malibu ls sedan in 2003 and i still own the car. It is a alright car from the looks and size but it has been falling apart since I purchased it. It is a 1999 model but it only had one other owner and I received the car at 35,000 miles in great working order. Since I have passed around 50,000 miles the car has been breaking left and right. There is 73,000 miles on it now and the brakes consistantly have to be replaced with rotors way before they need serviced. Also the brakes tend to crackle and pop when you apply the brakes now. I have replaced the coolant gaskets two times in 2003 right after I bought the car and I didn't drive the car over 10,000 miles the first year. The AC Heating control that adjusts the speed like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 only works on 4 and 5 since this past year. The front struts squeak and sound like something is rubing metal everytime you hit a bump or anything to absorb shock since around 50,000 miles also. The back passenger side spring is broke in half around the bottom of the coupling. The belt has been replaced four times since 2003 also. I have had to replace the battery two times in 2004 and the alternator in 2004 also. The power steering pump went out this past summer of 2005 as well. The car also tends to over heat when I am sitting in stop and go traffic for about 10 to 15 minutes almost reaching the red level on the heat gauge, but once I get out of traffic and just drive steady it finally cools down and the gauge stays in the middle. I took the car to the garage because I thought the thermostat went out but once we checked it, the thermostat was in perfect working order. Try to let me know something about this, Because I thought they recalled something on my model car from 1997-2003. Thanks alot.
