To whom it may concern,
My story is similar to many. I moved home from Colorado carrying a lot of debt accumulated from living abroad. Not to mention living with a dead beat man. That’s another story. I wanted to pay the creditors but I couldn’t get a substantial job to help pay them. I was like many people making minimum payments and getting no where. I researched credit counseling services on the world wide web. I found one called Miracle Management Group, aka MMG. I called the BBB, Attorney general’s office in Nevada where they were located. I thought I did all my research, and they seemed like a reputable company helping people manage their debt. I enrolled March 4,2004 and paid a set up fee of 299.00. Another company Risk Management Partners, aka RMP, was co- partners with MMG.I continued for one year to send them money to help settle my debts. I was told by MMG once 30 of my money was in this Escrow Account they would start to settle. One stipulation was I was to never have contact with the creditors; and I gave this company Limited Power of Attorney concerning my settlements.
I told some friends about the company and they proceeded to set up accounts with them. In August of 2005, MMG left RMP as their marketing company. Then I was told, from my checks being returned to me, to mail my payments to a Texas address rather then Nevada. When I called no one would respond or answer the phones. I started getting worried, they have 10,000 of money that was to go to these creditors. A friend who also joined the company found a web site www.debtconsolidationcare.comforums click on Miracle Management Group Underline name. Then we found the contact person Hyla Stanton (775) 220-6485. We were directed to e-mail her attorney, mgerity@ig-law.com. I went to the web site and began reading of the nightmares this company is putting people through. Needless to say I cancelled my account with them since none of my debts were being settled. I think they were using our money to pay off people that had quit the program too. I still have copies of their contract. Under section, “Cancellation Fees, it states I understand the Agency incurs expenses related to this negotiation and that failure to pay off the above debt constitutes a breach of this agreement for which Agency is entitled to a cancellation Fee of 250.00 per case that will be charged to the clients settlement account balance as an administrative expense upon cancellation of the program. The Agency must be informed in writing of the termination of agreement in order for the client to receive any refund from its settlement account. I also understand that if Agency is Unsuccessful in negotiating a reduced payoff I shall not be liable for any cancellation fees whatsoever.”
Today May1,2006 has been seven weeks since they received and signed for my letter to cancel. Again I was told my refund would take 4-6 weeks to process. I have received no refund.
